About this place
With the Angus sirloin steak, choosing a sauce is part of the pleasure. The 225g cut comes with a choice of 4: rich demi-glace butter, garlic cream, grated daikon with yuzu ponzu, or soy sauce with parsley and garlic butter. Go for a full-bodied sauce or keep things bright with yuzu ponzu; either way, the choice sets the tone for the meal.
For a Japanese take on a Western classic, try the Royal Omelette Rice with Hashed Beef Sauce. Seafood lovers can opt for a paella-style dish with red sea bream, prawns, salmon roe and mussels, among other ingredients. Saffron rice is scattered with vegetables and baked with seafood broth; it is served with lemon and aioli cream sauce.
For dessert, there are parfaits featuring chestnut and persimmon. The brûlée parfait is topped with persimmon arranged like a flower, and brings together the gentle bitterness of roasted green tea, fragrant pecans and tart redcurrants. In the Coffee Jelly Mont Blanc, chestnut ice cream and roasted green tea cream meet bitter coffee jelly, contrasting with the sweetness of the chestnuts.
Royal Host — Hirano, in Hirano Baba, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is open from 8:00 until 10:30. There is a wide selection of teas, and the drinks bar offers a place to take a break after a meal or between courses.
